“UNTITLED”

Through layers of acrylic and oil paint, I create portraits of close friends. Each painting honors the person’s individuality and seeks a balance between realism and abstraction, and between memory and presence. Each painting is an act of attention, and through vivid color and shifting backgrounds I form an extension of the person’s energy through my eyes. Together the works navigate the shifting nature of friendships as being both immediate and enduring, alive in shared moments but also carried forth despite absence through remembrance, and the spaces that remain.
